T.E.A.C.H. Scholarships

 

The Pennsylvania Child Care Association (PACCA) is offering T.E.A.C.H. (Teacher Education And Compensation Helps) Scholarships for afterschool and youth work professionals.  This unique scholarship program provides financial assistance and other supports for staff to earn college coursework toward a PA School Age Professional Credential, Youth Work Certificate/Credential and other approved degrees.

Common Sense Media Pittsburgh Education Manager

Common Sense Media (www.commonsense.org) is the leading independent, non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of kids and families by providing the information, education, and independent voice they need to thrive in a world of media and technology.

We are currently seeking a full-time, one-year contract position for a Pittsburgh Education Manager to develop and manage strategic outreach collaborations with school districts and leading early childhood, afterschool, and parent-serving organizations throughout the Greater Pittsburgh Area. The primary objective of the Education Manager is to introduce Common Sense Media’s digital literacy and citizenship resources and learning ratings (described below) to educators and parents in order to help them learn how to best guide their children in harnessing the full potential of technology for learning. The Education Manager will also provide professional development on how to best utilize our resources, pilot new training programs and resources, and evaluate the impact of programming.

Beverly Jewel Wall Lovelace Out of School Time Program Teacher/Tutor

Locations Include:  Rankin, McKees Rocks, Northside, Clairton, and Hazelwood

SALARY:  $15.00/hr

STATUS:  Part-Time (9 Hour Weekly – Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 4:30-7:30PM)

PURPOSE:  To enhance the literacy skills of children aged 5 -12 through twice-weekly small group classes.  To engage primary, intermediate and middle school readers in Story Circles and work to build basic reading skills in basic and below basic learners.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: (Education/Training/Experience):

  • Four-year college or university degree required.
  • Must have knowledge and experience with best practices in teaching struggling readers. 

PREFERRED ATTRIBUTES

  • PA certificate. 
  • Three or more years teaching experience.
