Tuesday, October 25th, 2011 was proclaimed Lights On Afterschool Day by the Pittsburgh City Council.  Representatives from the Allegheny Partners for Out of School Time (APOST) accepted the proclamation from Councilman Bill Peduto on behalf of the afterschool community in recognition of the importance of these programs in helping working families, keeping kids safe, and inspiring learning.

Later that evening, hundreds of afterschool program participants and providers joined APOST for a celebration of Lights On Afterschool at the Carnegie Science Center.  The culmination of this event was the interactive illumination of the Fred Rogers Memorial Statue.  Mr. McFeely was on hand for a speedy delivery of trolley postcards from the children.  The brilliant MGR Foundation team illuminated Mr. Rogers and rocked the North Shore with a remix of "Won't You Be My Neighbor".
