Build Your Website with WordPress 5.0

February 26, 2019 @ 9:30 am - 12:30 pm

Tuesday, February 26, 2019 9:30 AM–12:30 PM  Main (Oakland)

Every organization needs a great website in order to attract new supporters, provide information for current and potential donors, and encourage continued communication beyond the first connection.  But knowing how to maintain and improve it can be a daunting task.

During this workshop, you will learn about the new Block Editor which was released with WordPress 5.0.  This new editor is very different from the previous editor and can be challenging to get used to.  But it also offers a lot of flexibility and tools for customizing the look of your page content without needing additional plugins and coding.  Other information covered will be how to make a backup of your site, how to easily create a staging site to test new plugins and tools, and how to troubleshoot issues that may arise from conflicts with plugins and themes.

At the conclusion of the program, you will be given access to video tutorials to help you use and maintain your website, as well as templates and resources to help you with social media, blog posting, and planning.  Attendees will also receive recommendations for backup software to use on their website to help protect their investment from hackers and service disruptions.

This training is geared towards those who are already familiar with WordPress and need guidance on using the new edition.  Attendees are encouraged to bring a laptop, preferably one that you can use to access your website.

Our speaker, Terri Tutich, known to her friends as “The WordPress Whisperer,” is the owner of beyond the office and The WP Toolbox.  Terri helps small businesses and nonprofits avoid feeling intimidated by the technology and tools needed to communicate with their audience.  In addition to website development and maintenance services, Terri also provides WordPress training and consultation, as well as email marketing management and training.

The fee to attend this workshop is $20 per person which must be paid at the door with either cash or check made payable to Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh.  To register, please call the Nonprofit Resource Center at 412.622.6277.
