Code.org Studio Workshop for Teachers K-5

August 31, 2017 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

September 19 @ 9:00 am – 3:00 pm

Cost | Free

Event Description | Code.org is offering this 1-day workshop to prepare educators and content-area teachers (librarians, tech-ed specialists, etc.) to introduce computer science basics in a format that’s fun and accessible to the youngest learners (grades K-5). The workshop will cover content for our elementary school curriculum, and teachers will receive the supplies they need to teach the courses – at no cost. Not only is this an opportunity to increase your knowledge and confidence in facilitating an engaged computer science classroom, it’s also a chance to connect with other educators in your area who are working to bring computer science to their schools.

Background | Launched in 2013, Code.org is a non-profit dedicated to expanding access to computer science, and increasing participation by women and underrepresented students of color. Our vision is that every student in every school should have the opportunity to learn computer science. We believe computer science should be part of core curriculum, alongside other courses such as biology, chemistry or algebra.

Skill Level | Beginner (no previous knowledge expected or needed)
