Dialogue on Difficult Histories Webinar

January 10, 2019 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Do you work in a field that interprets the past? As an educator, docent, historian or artist, have you struggled to facilitate a conversation around a difficult or contested history? If so, join Rivers of Steel and the National Park Service in a 4-part workshop presented by trainers from the International Coalition of Sites of Conscience. Learn methods in which to challenge visitor preconceptions and foster productive dialogue.

Register here for the introductory webinar on Thursday, January 10, 2019 from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. In this session, you’ll learn key methodologies used by the Sites of Conscience in their work around the world. Be prepared to share your specific challenges – this content will inform the agenda for the in-person workshops on February 4, 5 & 6, 2019.

The introductory webinar is free.

The February in-person workshops are scheduled to occur at the Rivers of Steel National Heritage Area Visitors’ Center in Homestead. Registration is $45. Space is limited. Additional registration details will be provided during the January 10 webinar.
