Young Voices for the Planet: Educator Workshop

April 28, 2019 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

Sunday, April 28, 2019
9:00 am – 4:00 pm
Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens, Schenley Drive, Pittsburgh, PA, USA

Young Voices for the Planet is hosting a series of Civic Engagement and Democracy Educator Workshops — the Paula Sculley Memorial Civic Engagement and Democracy Educator workshops — throughout greater Pittsburgh and Western PA. Thanks to generous funding from The Heinz Endowments, and support from Garden Club of Allegheny County, these day-long professional development courses welcome formal and informal educators of all grade levels and subjects areas to explore ways to empower and inspire their students in the face of climate change and other environmental concerns. Each workshop is led by a professional facilitator who, with author/illustrator/filmmaker and YVFP founder, Lynne Cherry, will engage teachers in discussions and break-out sessions, screen the Young Voices for the Planet films, present the Civic Engagement and Democracy curriculum and give a presentation about the pedagogy of teaching with hope and success stories. Lunch will be provided!
