Afterschool Advocacy Day

March 20, 2014 By Apost Admin

Thank you to all the individuals and organizations that participated in Action Day for afterschool:

Our Quality Campaign Members: Higher Achievement, Neighborhood Learning Alliance, Propel Schools, Volunteers of America, YouthWorks, a program of Goodwill, and the YWCA. In addition, Operation Better Block, Steeltown Entertainment and Student Voices.

6x4 1

The delegation from Allegheny County was the largest and met with over 8 legislators or their staff. Rep. Gainey recognized and welcomed the Wilkinsburg students on the House floor during session, Rep. Wheatley, already an afterschool advocate, continues to support afterschool and has already supported House Resolution 589. Just yesterday we learned that Rep. Ravenstahl has signed on to the House Resolution 589 to establish an advisory committee to survey youth development programs across the state.  Join the efforts today and send a letter to your local legislative office asking them to support HR 589! Click here to find your local representative.
