Basic Proposal Writing

This full-day workshop is for individuals who are new to grant seeking and proposal writing, or who want to refresh their skills.  The information is geared to the needs of small to medium-sized agencies.  Participants will learn about:

What an organization needs to be grant ready:
-Overview of the grant seeking process
-Types of funders and proposal formats
-Basic components of grant proposals
-Preparing online grant submissions
-Steps to develop a grant proposal from start to submission
-Tips for submitting a strong proposal

The presenter will be Laurie S. Anderson, GPC, who launched her grants consulting business, L. Anderson Consulting, LLC, in 2017 after working for more than 25 years in the nonprofit sector.  In 1992, she became the Founding Manager of the Nonprofit Resource Center at the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh.  Later, she was executive director of two small nonprofit organizations and then worked for 7 years as the Grants Manager for the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy.  Her last position as nonprofit staff was as the Grants & Special Projects Coordinator with the Allegheny County Library Association. Laurie is a member of the Grant Professionals Association and received her Grants Professional Certification (GPC) in 2016.

The fee to attend this program is $30 per person, which can be paid at the door with cash or checks made payable to Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh.  Space is limited and registration is required by calling the Nonprofit Resource Center at 412.622.6277.
