Social Media Blitz: Getting Started on Twitter

Twitter is a very effective means of getting the word out fast to lots of people at a time.In this class, we will look at how nonprofits can get started on Twitter and learn the basics of how to use the site effectively.

 

Attendees will learn:
• How Twitter works
• How to set up an account step by step
• How to develop content appropriate for the network
• Using graphics with the network
• Crafting a social media strategy
and more!

 

This training is designed for beginners that currently do not have a Twitter account or have set up a Twitter account but are not actively using it. Participants are urged to bring their own laptops or tablets.

The speaker will be Christopher Whitlatch. Christopher has nearly twenty years of marketing and communications experience and is recognized nationally for his digital media success. He is currently the Director of Communications at The Pittsburgh Foundation. Christopher is the marketer behind the Pittsburgh Gives campaign that has raised more than $30 million dollars and has become a national model for nonprofit organizations, inspiring the Give Local Day.

Christopher serves on the Board of Trustees for City Theatre and the Pittsburgh Urban Magnet Project (PUMP). He has a degree in Journalism and Mass Communications from New York University.
