According to research, in the United States alone, more than 35 million children between the ages of 8 and 19 participate in some form of youth sports. This webinar will explore critical concepts, strategies, and tips for program staff to consider when working with coaches and mentors in sports-based context. As a nationwide leader in sports-based youth development, Up2Us Sports harnesses the power of sports to reduce youth violence, promote health, and inspire academic success for kids in every community. Thomas Padro, a national trainer at Up2Us Sports, will present key approaches and facilitate an interactive discussion around transforming play as a mentoring strategy. Joining Up2Us is a key program partner, Joel Katz, Senior Manager with the Memphis Grizzlies Foundation featuring GrizzFit, who will present how they have engaged volunteer mentor coaches as powerful youth allies.
