Webinar: The Restorative Power of Mentoring for Sexually Exploited Youth

May 18, 2017 @ 1:00 pm - 2:15 pm

LIVE WEBINAR: THE RESTORATIVE POWER OF MENTORING FOR SEXUALLY EXPLOITED YOUTH

Thu, May 18, 2017 1:00 PM – 2:15 PM EDT
Youth who experience commercial sexual exploitation are often victimized by adults who appear to care for them.  This type of trauma destroys trust and may significantly affect a youth’s ability to form healthy relationships.  Mentoring has the potential to be restorative, providing an opportunity for healing through a positive relationship with a trusted adult.  This webinar, presented by MANY, will feature panelists Dr. Karen Countryman-Roswurm, Founder and Executive Director of Wichita State University Center for Combating Human Trafficking; Tiffany Wilhelm, Crisis Stabilization Program Coordinator at La Causa and Ann Wilkenson, Director of Mentoring Services at My Life, My Choice.  Panelists will provide an overview of the commercial sexual exploitation of youth and the value of mentoring relationships.  In addition, this webinar will discuss program considerations and strategies for mentoring youth victim/survivors of commercial sexual exploitation.
