Allegheny Land Trust (ALT) serves as the lead land trust conserving and stewarding lands that support the scenic, recreational, and environmental well-being of communities in Allegheny County and its environs.
ALT’s Environmental Education Team is led by our VP of Education Jessica Kester and our Education Program Director Julie Travaglini. Both staff hold their Pennsylvania teaching certificates and bring with them over 25 years combined experience as leaders in the environmental education field.

Who should attend your program? Children interested in the great outdoors!
What are you doing this summer? What’s a typical day look like? A typical program includes engaged learning through age appropriate hands on activities, guided hikes and stories.
#PGHSummer17’s theme is: Dream, Explore, Do! How does your program promote each of these areas? We always encourage students to explore the natural world by actively participating or “doing” a wide variety of exploratory activities
What’s the most popular activity amongst participants? Depends on the program! Bug hunts, creek explorations, etc.!
What book should kids read this summer?/What book are your kids reading this summer? We love reading the book “Chameleon’s Crazy Colors” with our younger students.
