#PGHSummer17 – Spotlight #5!

September 20, 2017 By Apost Admin

Camp Soles’ vision is to “transform one camper at a time through programs that build meaningful friendships, create opportunities for life long memories, and lead in the development of a stronger character.”

For more than 60 years, Camp T. Frank Soles has provided high quality and affordable overnight, family camp, and retreat programs.

Located in the Laurel Highlands of southwestern Pennsylvania, our 263 acre facility is recognized by many as one of the most beautiful camps in North America. Campers have the opportunity to try their hand at a variety of activities including swimming, Gaga, arts and crafts, rock climbing, archery, zip lining, and much, much more.

Describe your program in three words: Belonging, Relationships, Achievement

Who should attend your program? Youth that like being outdoors, making new friends and finding a place to call home.

What are you doing this summer? What’s a typical day look like? Whatever we are doing, we are doing it outside. While at Camp Soles you will be swimming, fishing, hiking, zip lining, climbing, playing, laughing, eating, singing, dancing, paddle boarding, canoeing and eventually sleeping.

#PGHSummer17’s theme is: Dream, Explore, Do! How does your program promote each of these areas? The beauty of camp is that it is up to our kids to determine what they will be doing. Kids get to make choices about skills and activities they want to do. They will make the camp their own as they learn from role models about the world, discover new talents and passions and create lifelong memories doing it.

What’s the most popular activity amongst participants? Swimming

What book should kids read this summer? What book are your kids reading this summer? Hatchet

Is there anything else you would like to add? YMCA Camp Soles is the small camp with BIG adventure. We allow kids to figure out who they are and who they want to be in the safety of a YMCA program.
