America Reads—Weil

Program Description

One hundred undergraduate students at the University of Pittsburgh who are eligible for work study funding serve as tutors in several elementary schools or an after-school program operated by a church. The University of Pittsburgh is one of more than 1500 college and universities participating in this nationally funded and supported program. The goal of the program is to provide literacy support to children so that both achievement and interest in reading and writing are increases.
