Hill Dance Academy Theatre

Program Description

Hill Dance Academy Theatre is a non-profit arts education program utilizing dance as the core element of activity with an integration of areas that support dance as an art form. The areas of photography, theatre, technology, costuming, musical theatre, physical fitness, nutritition, communication/writing and other areas that support dance are essential to HDAT’s programming. HDAT’s mission is to sustain Black dance as an art form and to provide dance opportunities to children ages 3 to 18 who want to dance but would not be able to dance otherwise due to income or stereotypes/prejudices. HDAT provides scholarships and teen apprentice/intern opportunities to dance and develop leadership and teaching skills. HDAT develops partnerships with arts, church and community programs that also serve youth from some of Pittsburgh’s most economically and socially distressed communities.
