Program Description

Sunday Adventures in Music (SAM) is a comprehensive music training program for children. SAM was conceived as an opportunity to teach children the skills necessary to participate fully in the musical life of the Christian church. The program seeks to help children develop their singing voices, teach them basic skills in music literacy, and introduce them to the glorious traditions of sacred music from around the world. The choirs serve in worship as the Shadyside Presbyterian Church children’s choirs and also perform annually for area nursing homes. Grades: Kindergarten-5th; rehearsals are on Sundays. Performances are generally 4-5 Sunday mornings and 2-3 Sunday afternoon/evenings each year. There is a fee to participate, but siblings pay half-tuition, and liberal scholarships are available. See the website or call the church office for a schedule. Parents may volunteer to help care for choir robes and assist before and after performances.
