Take Action Now!

Save Federal Funding for Afterschool Programs!

Yesterday, President Trump’s proposed budget included the elimination of 21st Century Community Learning Center funding, the only dedicated funding for afterschool and summer learning. Please join APOST and advocates for afterschool across the country to let Congress know that the elimination of 21st Century funding will be devastating to the over 2 million children nationwide.

In Allegheny County, we know that our community participates in, demands, and supports having quality afterschool opportunities available to kids. 21st Century funding is a critical resource utilized by schools and organizations to implement afterschool programs. If the 21st Century CLC initiative is eliminated, many programs will not survive.

Take Action
1. Contact Congress TODAY: The Afterschool Alliance is spearheading a national call to action to tell representatives in Congress how these cuts will impact children and families that rely on afterschool programing. Please take two minutes today and tell Congress to say NO to cuts in afterschool! Click here to take action now!

2. Join local efforts: APOST will be calling on 21st Century programs and afterschool supporters to share success stories, join local meetings with elected officials, and track local action taken on this issue. If you are interested in being part of the local effort please sign up here.

3. Save these dates:
Afterschool Action Day – Harrisburg, PA May 2, 2018. APOST is sponsoring transportation and food for afterschool programs, participants, and parents to join this statewide effort. If your program is interested, please click here.
