Weikart Youth Work Methods Workshops

The Weikart Center trainings offered through APOST are for adult learners, and they are field-tested by experts and backed by research.

These two hour, interactive workshops are modeled on the Weikart Center’s pyramid of program quality. The curriculum gives staff who work directly with young people practical skills that can be implemented immediately. The Curriculum

The curriculum provides a variety of trainings in Youth Work Methods and Social & Emotional Learning Youth Work Methods. The curriculum aims to provide resources to allow you to build safe, supportive, interactive, and engaging environments in which young people can successfully develop higher-order learning & leadership skills.

APOST Weikart Workshops are led by local professionals with Out-of-School-Time experiences and who are trained and equipped themselves to lead these sessions through the lens of your Out-of-School-Time experience and organization.

Some workshops are able to be taken in any order based upon your interest in a subject matter, and some are to be taken in a specific order. Any workshop with a required pre-requisite will be indicated in the Eventbrite link.

How Do I Participate?

Weikart Workshops are offered through APOST on a seasonal basis along with accompanying professional development opportunities.

Weikart Workshops are available to and centered for Out-of-School-Time providers and professionals. Feel free to share with your networks and fellow staff! Once you have registered and attended a Weikart Workshop, you will also be included in an email list for future opportunities.

Spots are limited based on the course offering and as indicated by the event space. At this time, all Weikart Workshops are held in person in Allegheny County. Workshop locations will vary based on space available and versatility in location for participants.
