Helper’s Trauma Professional Learning Community: Session 2

February 20, 2020 @ 10:30 am - 12:30 pm

This Professional Learning Community for Addressing Helper’s Trauma is a professional development community for youth workers focused on understanding, identifying, and addressing the trauma helper’s in the community education field and school setting experience.

Please fill out this brief application and take the pre-assessment for us to learn a little about you and gauge your trauma knowledge.

There will be a two-hour introduction session about trauma generally. The material covered in this session will be determined by the pre-assessment. In addition, there will be three other two-hour sessions that will focus on learning, implementing, and reflecting on the use of the helper’s trauma tool and refining the tool. This opportunity will also include reflection activities for the participants to complete between sessions. The tool consists of techniques for youth workers to help mitigate the impacts of helper’s trauma.

The two goals for this community are:
1. Aid youth workers on practicing self-care in a trauma-informed manner in order for them to be fully present with their young people.
2. Assist partners with refining Helper’s Trauma Professional Learning Community and tool.

All trauma knowledge levels are welcome. Only 12 participants will be accepted in this cohort. Each applicant must be able to commit to all 4 sessions and reflection between sessions.
